It is cold, quiet and still

Only the two of us occupying this space

Looking from within inside to the people about

sitting in their own misery and pain, yet trying to

determine my fate, not caring about their own

fate.  Leaving a hurt that only the two of us can feel

Looking at each other, with a deep and long stare

Understanding what’s at stake

Staying close but not too close to engage

Smiling but for a moment, but to ourselves

We are together yet apart

Can we make things right so we can be one

Flesh and spirit battling for one’s soul

A price was paid, will you choose righteousness

So our soul and spirit can reside as one

For once and for all. Eternity will be

our permanent home.
