Proverbs 16: 1-4 The plans of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. This verse tells me that man proposes plans, but God disposes at His leisure. The final say is in His hands, His authority, His power, not ours. 2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, But the LORD weighs the motives. This means to me that none of us can really know our own mind or motives. Because our heart is easily deceived. 3 Commit your works to the LORD, And your plans will be established. This tells us to trust in the Lord. Cast your cares to Him because He is sovereign and knows what is best for me. 4 The LORD has made everything for its own purpose, Even the wicked for the day of evil. This lets me know that God has a purpose for all of us to include the wicked. For the wicked will experience God’s wrath.
God is a Sovereign God, who wants us to obey Him! He owes nothing to us. Be thankful for what He gives us. He does not need to explain why He does what He does. If He takes a love one then He may do so, after all He blessed you with the fruit of your womb to begin with. He is the Creator of the universe and He can do as He please.
The only questions we should be asking God is : Lord, how may I serve you today? Lord am I pleasing in thy sight? Other than that your heartfelt prayer should be: Lord let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. God’s sovereignty is a place of rest for the child of God, as well as a cause of worship. Serve and rest in Him. Prepare for eternal life. Psalm 48:1 confirms this.
Giving us the bible is sufficient because it gives us some explanation of some things and what is expected of us. Imagine walking around with no existence of a bible and having to figure out right from wrong. That would be Suicide!
People seem to know God when things are going right. You finally can jump up and down because you got the job you wanted. Perhaps a spouse took notice in you after months of doing his own thing and pursuing his goals. Or you got a bonus at work. Yes, Jesus is the head of your life then, and how you worship the ground He walks, but let us turn this situation around and turn up the heat. Where is God then? Are the praises going up or are the curse words going up? Where is God then to you?
Everyday, should be a worship day. Not just when we things are rosy.
When the heat turns up in our lives, and we are caught up in our storms, will we praise God still ? No, the storm takes a turn for the worst. Our sickness becomes pity. Our friends becomes our enemies. Our spouses become a nightmare we wish we never had. We lose all hope and become depressed and miserable. Worst, we lose the desire to praise God. We actually start blaming Him for our situation instead of praying for His mercy, and forgiveness of our sins.
We just refuse to trust Him!
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. This clearly tells us that we serve a sovereign God, who expects us to obey without questioning His authority. By doing so we are doubting His words, actions and love for us. His word does not return back to Him void.
Only endurance and trust in God is expected here on earth, our peace comes after death for obeying God. This is not our home, we are travelers making our way home to Jesus.
