I read an inspiring story, and about the process of suffering just to reap the Joy in the end. I was visiting Living Beautifully Blog, by Linda Mendible. She recently gave birth to her firstborn son.
She shares in words and pictures of her journey as she awaits for this little miracle from God. So many thoughts runs through us as we experience life inside our womb for the first time mothers. Some have not had the joy of experiencing life inside the womb, so it’s not to be taken lightly, to be blessed with pregnancy, and motherhood. Having a chance to feel a baby’s kick, and see his heartbeat for the first time is un-explainable.
As I continued to read, something spoke to my heart separately, and I felt compelled to write then, but God had me ponder it more. Linda, described how she wanted to endure natural birth without medication. Later she opted for pain meds. What was revealed to me is that God has paid the price for us, and endured unimaginable long-suffering than we can imagine for us. So if this is true then longsuffering is part of His character, right?
Colossians 1:11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.
Long suffering to us referring to biblical text is having hope and mercy. Not for us to be depressed and hopeless. Longsuffering is the fourth fruit of the spirit. Longsuffering is Love enduring all circumstances. Yet, through it we have Christ, our comforter. Linda, had to surrender totally, in-spite of her concerns, or fears of the unknown. She had to give in to be comforted by Christ. When she reached for the medications, she was able to relax, and enjoy the process of labor and delivery of her son.
We all experience dismay at some point, no matter how faithful we are.
So why should we feel the need to be Heroes, or suffer in dismay when we don’t have too? Man creates medication, but God equips man with these TAGS (talents, abilities, gifts, and skills). So be comforted. Likewise, in our everyday situations be it death of a love one, disease, loneliness, fear of failure etc. Why should we suffer in hopelessness when we have Christ to lean on, or better yet carry us when the load gets to heavy?
The price was paid so be comforted. So what I learnt and was reminded of Linda’s story is the price was paid and we have a comforter to endure for us. If a job denied you a position then God will open two doors. If you lose a love one then Christ will comfort and carry you, but don’t cause unnecessary stress and make it bigger than what is in front of you. If you get bad health news, don’t speculate if it will get worse or look into the future to fast. Begin to consume scripture and give birth to God’s promises. If God is near and attainable then touch His garment.
Take, for example, the Christian woman who has undergone many surgeries and told she will have children. But it doesn’t work. So the doctor promises her the chance of having a baby will increase after another surgery, but it doesn’t happen. So she now faces divorce because of something she has no control over. Her husband wants something she can’t give. Have she given in and up on God?
Yet, in another situation someone spouse is divorcing them because he has to many children to care for, and feels overloaded or trapped. Does he fail to see the small blessings of life before him?
Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee. Be not dismayed for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Why suffer as if God is dead, when He is alive? Sing a song of praise, and thanksgiving because He is the true surgeon and doctor on duty. He is fulltime. We are never alone.
