“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. John 13:34
Each day is a new day to love one another. But in order for us to love one another. We must love who God created us to be. If we don’t truly love ourselves, how can we love others? We must be able to see ourselves how God (our creator) sees us. Created in His image. How marvelous!
When we have a relationship with Christ. He forcibly remove any insincerity, pride, and vanity from our life through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit reveals to me that God loved me not because I was lovable, but because it was His nature to do so. Now He commands me to show the same love to others by loving others despite how they treat me. Despite their status. Despite their popularity. God sees us as equals.
We all belong to Jesus, no matter where we grew up, or how different our cultures are. Sometimes we may try to force the relationship with others and even Christ. But we don’t have to force His love. Because He freely give His love without any of our good deeds. He first loved us before we knew what love was. If we be for Jesus Christ then who can be against us?
In other words if you love Jesus then you love others too. Therefore we must stay before Him to keep us on the right foot. Everyone will not be loving, but you’re only accountable for yourself. Not others. Choose love over hate. Choose kindness over being rude. Choose gentleness over being arrogant.
Love has to be nurtured. Just as we care for our children and love ones. We feed, clothe, and shelter them. But God is the overall provider that enables us to provide for our families. Likewise we must read our bibles, show kindness, pray and keep faith to allow our relationship to grow naturally and physically.
So don’t waste time trying to decipher who loves you or who is pretending. It’s not your job. Because it’s easy to love those who are kind and love you back. But loving the difficult is the true task. It’s the true wellspring of the heart.
